HDU Signs

HDU High Density Foam is an innovative substrate used for a variety of applications in the signage, modeling, aerospace, composite, architectural and design industries. HDU has become the most popular choice in dimensional signage. HDU can be either routed or sandblasted, providing a variety of looks.

It is a closed cell rigid substrate that does not rot, warp or crack. HDU has a uniform surface and lasts indefinitely. Available in almost any size and thickness, it can be coated or textured to resemble a variety of materials, including wood, metal, stucco, brick or stone. HDU is very easy to sand, route and paint. However, HDU is a grain-less substrate and needs to have support when spanning large distances. Support structures can be external (wall, fence, etc.) or fully/partially embedded into the sign so as to not be visible. We can recommend support solutions as needed.

Versatile, One-of-a-kind Signs

HDU sandblasted foam signs are fabricated from open celled high density urethane (HDU). HDU foam signs are extremely versatile and the most reliable material for sandblasted signs. HDU foam can be sandblasted to look similar to wood grain, or with a pebble finish. It can also be treated with other sign manufacturing technologies; like CNC routing (v-groove routed and channel cut), or hand carving, and finished with expert hand painting. A Better Alternative to Wood Signs
